Rated G for Geek:The $5 iPad Dock
Here at ESB Journal, we’re all about working with fellow small business owners. That being said, when I found out that my friend Victoria Bracknell had started up a geek chic blog at Rated G for Geek, I contacted her to find out if she’d be interested in sharing her reviews here as well. In an unexpected bonus, fellow Rated G writer Digital Professor has signed on to lend a pen as well. Look for their tech insights to begin gracing our pages this week. Better still, be sure to head over and check them out at Rated G for Geek.
I love DIY solutions to things we could easily buy if we wanted.
I just know tech geeks handy with wood and a saw are going to love making their own inexpensive iPad dock.
Pros: It’s certainly inexpensive and durable. It could be stained and sealed or painted and decorated.
Cons: You can’t charge your iPad when it’s in the dock, and the speaker might be a little muffled.
This reminds me of something we did at my office when the easel on the back of an Apple 17? Studio Display broke. We had a carpenter friend of ours make a wooden stand we could slide the bottom of the monitor into and used it that way for years.
About the Author:
Victorial Bracknell, aka netgrrl, has worked in the field of IT/Communications since the mid-80’s. Pre-Internet, she ran a BBS called Vic’s Place, first in Gulfport and then in Jackson, MS. She’s been using “social media” of one kind and another ever since.
Instead of dog years, she measures her age in OS updates.
When she’s not reading about tech, talking about tech, learning about tech, Twittering about tech… she reads, listens to podcasts and audiobooks, needlefelts and knits and walks her little dog, @RadarDog. Yes, he has a Twitter account — whom she’s often jealous of because he has more followers than she does. She also lives with two cats, Buffy and Domino, who have declined to tweet from every fiber of their being.
